Description
This month our June community meeting falls on Juneteenth. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of when news of abolition finally reached enslaved Black people in Texas - a full two and a half years after the passage of the Emancipation Proclamation - and is now recognized as a federal holiday. It is a day which honors and celebrates Black freedom and Black resistance.
Join our June community meeting, Wednesday, June 19, where we will be joined by special guest, Victoria Raggs to talk about Juneteenth through a Jewish lens.Victoria is the co-founding Executive Director of Atlanta Jews of Color Council and a leader in the Jewish community, including with the Bend the Arc Atlanta chapter!
Juneteenth is an opportunity for us to come together within multiracial Jewish community to recommit to dismantling white supremacy and building towards a country where all Black folks are free and thriving.
Join us Wednesday, June 19 to talk about Juneteenth from a Jewish perspective and what our work involves to realize Black liberation. We will also discuss plans for an in-person community meeting later in the summer!
