The NY legislative session is almost over and we want to keep the pressure on our legislators to take action for parole justice! Join us for a power hour to call our LI legislators and legislative leaders. We will make our voices heard to support two critical bills for parole justice: Elder Parole (S15A/A8855) and Fair & Timely Parole (S7514/A4231A) bills.
There is a moral and fiscal crisis of aging and dying people in NY prisons because of decades of extremely harsh sentences and a racially-biased parole system. Endless punishment does nothing to keep our communities safe and costs us, the taxpayers, a fortune. The safest communities have schools, health care, jobs and more - not the highest incarceration rates. Parole Justice will make our communities safer, reunite families, & save $522 million dollars annually.
