Description
During the holiday of Sukkot, we remember the Israelites' journey after leaving Egypt and reflect on experiences of both vulnerability and sanctuary as we walked through the desert toward a better future. This year, we cannot ignore the vulnerability that many communities face today as the Trump Administration advances its cruel agenda.
That's why Bend the Arc: Riverdale will mark Sukkot with a community gathering to recommit ourselves to the work of justice in the new year.
At the event, we'll:
Build progressive Jewish community and share a light meal in the Sukkah
Engage in Sukkot learning and ritual
Share how to plug into our local work on statewide immigrant justice campaigns and to help flip NY-19 this November
We're thrilled to be joined by honored speakers:
Rabbi Joel Schwab will offer a teaching about how Sukkot connects to today's immigration climate.
Representatives from our partners at the Yonkers Sanctuary Movement will speak to us about their work and experiences doing grassroots work for immigrant justice.
Ginna Green, Bend the Arc's Chief Strategy Officer, will share Bend the Arc's strategy to mobilize American Jews across the country to build a country where all communities can thrive.
